Confirmed: No Syrian refugees in Tangipahoa Parish

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TANGIPAHOA PARISH SHERIFF DANIEL EDWARDS

November 19, 2015, HAMMOND, LA – Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards releases today that after a multi-agency conference call including numerous Sheriff’s Departments, Louisiana State Police, the LA Fusion Center and the LA Sheriff’s Association, it has absolutely been confirmed that there are no Syrian refugees in Tangipahoa Parish and no unaccounted for refugees in the state of Louisiana either on a temporary or permanent basis.

Furthermore, if this status were ever to change, each affected Sheriff would be contacted individually and immediately, and this was guaranteed to us by LSP Col Edmondson.

Sheriff Edwards would like to thank each agency involved for their continued partnership and mutual concern for the safety of all Louisiana citizens. He, as well, hopes that this will clear up any concerns over false rumors being perpetuated throughout the community, mostly on social media, so that the public can be adequately informed and any unfounded fears relieved.
