Teens arrested with stolen weapons
HAMMOND, LA – Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the following:
In late March, detectives with the Burglary Task Force initiated an investigation of a residential burglary where numerous firearms were stolen. Detectives learned that the possible suspect was a juvenile who lived in close proximity of the burglary victim, however we did not have an address or a name. Several days later uniform patrol deputies responded to a residence in Bon Aire subdivision in reference to a complaint of a juvenile with a gun. Subsequently the juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Hammond Sub Station where he was questioned in the presence of his parents about the burglary.
As a result, it was learned that the juvenile had stolen approximately eight firearms along with numerous other pieces of property. Three of the fire arms were located at the residence of the juvenile and two of the stolen firearms that were located at a residence in Walker La. All of the fire arms have been returned to the rightful owner.
The investigation is still ongoing in hopes of locating the remainder of the firearms. The juvenile is currently being held in the Florida Parishes Detention Center awaiting court proceedings.
