National Take Back Day - 2016
HAMMOND, LA - Each year, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), participates in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Initiative.
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day provides a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
This year’s take-back event will occur on April 30th from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Hobby Lobby parking lot located at 2714 West Thomas St. Hammond, LA.
Syringes, needles or any other dangerous materials will not be accepted. Please remove any personal identification from the medication bottles and boxes. Prescription drugs that languish in medicine cabinets create a public health and safety concern because they are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.
These Take Back Days give the public the opportunity to prevent abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs.
