HAMMOND, LA. – (September 12, 2016) –Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies nab purse snatcher just moments after he victimized a local business owner in Hammond, LA.
On Friday September 9, 2016, just after 8:00 am, 20 year old Casey Boudreaux of Hammond, LA was taken into custody just a short time after snatching two bags from a local business owner on the corner of Old Baton Rouge Highway and Happywoods Rd.
The complaint that she arrived at the Happywoods Deli a little before 8:00 am to open the store for business. When she approached the entrance, she placed two purse like bags down on the ground by her feet as she attempted to unlock the roll- up doors into the establishment. While doing so, an unknown black male, who she recognized as a frequent customer, approached her. The owner thought male subject was trying to be kind and help her with the doors, however instead, the accused grabbed her two bags from the ground and fled the area in a green Nissan traveling west on Old Baton Rouge Highway.
As deputies patrolled the area for the suspect vehicle, they located one matching the description parked in front of a trailer in the Tangi Mobile Home Park. At this time, deputies approached the residence, made contact with an occupant and received consent to search the home. While doing so, they located Boudreaux hiding in a bedroom closet. While inside the residence, deputies also recovered two bags containing the victim’s identification inside.
