PONCHATOULA, LA – (September 27, 2017) - A Ponchatoula man is now in jail after allegedly stealing a car during a high school football game.
Last week 27-year- old Jobe Jenkins of Ponchatoula was arrested for stealing a car at during a High School football game. Friday night, September 22, 2017, it was reported that a vehicle was stolen during a Ponchatoula High School football game. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were swiftly able to track down and disable the stolen vehicle at Kyle’s Quick Stop in Ponchatoula.
Video surveillance from the Quick Stop showed the suspect exiting the vehicle and head south on foot from Pine Street. Suspect description – a white male wearing dark jeans and a black and white stripped shirt. The subject was quickly spotted walking on South 3rd Street before entering a gated area on Ponchatoula Junior High School’s property
The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Ponchatoula Police Department set up a perimeter securing the area while Lt. Corey Michelli and TPSO K9 Vhari attempted to locate the subject.
K9 Vhari led deputies to a woman’s restroom where the suspect was observed hiding from law enforcement. Consequently, the subject, 27-year- old Jobe Jenkins was into custody and arrested without incident.
Jenkins was charged with auto theft and several outstanding felony narcotics related warrants.
