Thank you, Grant Funding!

HAMMOND, LA – (October 11, 2017) – From the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office-
Sheriff Daniel Edwards and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office were awarded a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) to conduct additional traffic safety enforcement. The primary goal of the grant is to reduce fatal and injury crashes on Louisiana roadways.
Traffic enforcement on the more than 800 square miles of roads in the parish is a large part of the Sheriff Edwards’s responsibilities. “We have a lot of residents traveling the roadways in the parish daily as well as commuters from surrounding parishes,” said Edwards. “We want everyone to arrive at their destination safely, and that’s why we conduct highway safety enforcement.”
Funding from the grant means more deputies will be out working additional overtime conducting day and night seatbelt enforcement, speed enforcement, impaired driving saturation patrols, and sobriety checkpoints. The Sheriff’s Office will also participate in partnership with the LHSC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Click It or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.
The members of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office want to remind all drivers to be safe and responsible drivers. Eliminate distractions like texting while driving, and make sure you and all your occupants buckler-up for safety.
