Sheriff Executes Warrant
HAMMOND, LA – (December 3, 2017) – Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Office reports that shortly after 7:00 a.m. this morning, Sheriff Daniel Edwards was contacted by East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hiller Moore in reference to assistance in executing a search and arrest warrant for accused murder suspect -53-year-old Taher Toom of Hammond.
With active warrants in hand, Sheriff Edwards and TPSO deputies executed the warrants at Toom’s residence on Tricou Blvd. at 12:12 pm, subsequently taking Toom into custody without incident.
Toom is accused of fatally shooting a 50-year-old Zakaria Toom at around 1:45 a.m - in Baton Rouge. The BR Police Department has charged Toom of second-degree murder and the illegal use of a weapon.
