HAMMOND, LA – Tangipahoa Parish Daniel Edwards reports noteworthy narcotics related arrests from last week by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO).
The TPSO’s Narcotics Unit made several arrests on two (2) unrelated search warrants.
1. HAMMOND, LA - On April 19, 2018, in joint efforts between the TPSO and Hammond Police Department’s Narcotics and Street Crime Units four (4) narcotics related arrests were made at a Happy woods Road residence. A search warrant for the residence of 22-year-old Joshua CYPRIAN was obtained and executed after the TPSO received numerous complaints of alleged drug activity taking at the residence.
Upon investigation, TPSO detectives identified the 22-year-old as the main source of the illegal drug operation. A search of the residence yielded large amounts of suspected MDMA “Ecstasy” and marijuana.
Consequently, all occupants at the residence during the time of the search were arrested and charged accordingly.
I. Joshua CYPRIAN – 22-years-old of Happywoods Road. Charges: Possession with the intent to distribute CDS II.
II. Shaun ROUTE – 24-years-old of Roseland, LA. Charges: Possession of CDS I and resisting arrest.
III. Cordell WILLIAMS – 27- years-old of Hammond, LA. Charges: Outstanding warrants.
IV. Wakina Benjamin – 39-years-old of Hammond, LA. Charges: Outstanding warrant.
2. NATALBANY, LA - On April 20, 2018, in a separated joint investigation between the TPSO, the Hammond Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration “DEA”, eight (8) were taken into custody bringing a two-month long investigation to a rap.
The target - a residence on Johnson Lane in Natalbany. Numerous controlled undercover narcotics purchases were made at this residence from multiple subjects during the investigation. Narcotics purchases ranging from methamphetamine to heroin.
When law enforcement arrived to execute the search warrant, they observed 43-year-old Henry MOORE - armed and standing on the porch. Upon seeing agents, MOORE attempted retreat inside the residence, however quickly surrender when coming in contact with authorities. Three other subject attempted to flee out of a back door, however were met face-to-face by law enforcement who were securing the residence. Two additional subjects located inside the residence were also taken into custody.
A search of the residence revealed various prescription medications not contained in proper prescription bottles, methamphetamine, and a vile of Narcan.
During the search it was learned that 38- year-old Paul STARKEY successful fled the scene as agents arrived and was allegedly hiding at a nearby residence. Consequently, STARKEY was located and taken into custody.
Those arrested as a result of this investigation the following subjects were arrested:
I. Paul STARKEY – 38 years-old of Johnson Lane was charged with two counts of distribution of Heroin and a failure to appear warrant.
II. Phillip POWELL - 37-year-old of Tickfaw, LA. was charged with possession of CDS II and CDS IV and possession of drug paraphernalia.
III. Thomas YOUNG - 28-year-old of Robert, LA. was charged with possession of CDS II and CDS IV as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
IV. Louis BELLS - 29-year-old of Natalbany, LA. was charged with possession of Heroin, child endangerment, and numerous warrants.
V. Taylor RODRIGUEZ - 23-year-old of Loaner, LA. was charged with possession of CDS II and CDS IV as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
VI. Joseph WILLIAMS – 38-year-old of Tickfaw, LA. was charged with obstruction of justice.
VII. David POWELL – 28-year-old of Tickfaw, LA. was charged with possession of CDS II and CDS IV as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
VIII. Henry MOORE – 43 of Natalbany, LA. was charged with possession of CDS II and CDS IV as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon while in possession of CDS, and one outstanding warrant.
