Narcotics Arrests
INDEPENDENCE, LA - December 17, 2018 - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports the following arrests:
On December 12, 2018, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotic Unit was learned the whereabouts of wanted subject 56-year-old Helen Anthony of Loranger. Anthony was wanted by authorities for the distribution of CDS III and for an outstanding failure to appear warrant.
Detectives located Anthony at a residence on Hwy. 40 in Independence. While at the residence, detectives observed a large quantity of prescription medication laying around the residence. At this time, Anthony was taken into custody and two other occupants were detained - 36-year-old Richard Simpson Jr. and 56-year-old Richard Simpson Sr. - pending investigation.
A search of Helen Anthony revealed 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and packaging materials commonly used for the distribution of illegal narcotics. Upon investigation, Richard Simpson Jr., was found to be in possession of a quantity of prescription medications which he claims he received from his father, Richard Simpson Sr..
Subsequently, Anthony was charged with possession with intent to distribute CDS III, possession of CDS II, distribution of CDS II, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for one outstanding failure to appear warrant. Simpson Jr. was charged with possession of CDS II and Simpson Sr., charged distribution of CDS II.
