A+ Audit

HAMMOND, LA – October 4, 2019 - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Edwards is pleased to announce the Sheriff’s Office has received its 14th consecutive, perfect audit.
The Louisiana Legislative Auditor's report shows the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office receiving a perfect “A +” audit with no findings. A perfect audit means financial auditors did not find any irregularities, questionable spending or anything out of the norm for an accredited law enforcement agency. The audit is performed every year by independent auditors with no ties to the Sheriff’s Office.

Audit findings show this office to be in compliance with state and federal regulations, all current governmental accounting standards and suggested practices to ensure that all public monies are safeguarded and proper records are maintained for accountability. The reporting end date of June 30, 2019, shows the sheriff's office's total net position increased over the course of last fiscal year's operations, resulting in a fund balance ending of $9,238,084.

This is the fourteenth (14) consecutive year the Sheriff’s Office has received a perfect audit. "I am happy to report our latest A+ audit, however, I’m not surprised,” said Sheriff Edwards. “Every year, I expect perfect results from my staff and they never cease to deliver. I am grateful for their continued efforts each year and for their dedication and commitment to the citizens of Tangipahoa Parish."
