HAMMOND, LA - October 4, 2019 - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently taking a fraud report from the Amite Livestock Sales Auction Barn. It has been reported that fraudsters have compromised the company’s email account and are sending emails out to customers soliciting financial information to include bank account and routing numbers. This is SCAM or a scheme referred to as “spearfishing”.
TPSO Financial Crimes Detective Michael D’Amato is asking anyone who may receive one of these emails to disregard and delete them. PLEASE do NOT send any personal or financial information out via an email sent by the Amite Livestock Sales Auction Barn's email service.
If anyone has sent their financial information they’re urged to contact their financial institutions right away and contact the Sheriff’s Office to file a report. (985) 345-6150.
