UPDATE : Fatal Shooting
UPDATE – August 25, 2020 - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is pleased to report that 19-year-old Jaylohn Mitchell of Ponchatoula, LA. is now in custody.
Mitchell was taken into custody on August 22nd in Houston, Texas. He will be extradited to Louisiana at a later date.
Mitchell is wanted on outstanding warrants through the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for one (1) count of Second Degree Murder and two (2) counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
Mitchell’s arrest is connected to a homicide that occurred on Vernon Town Road in Roseland, August 8, 2020, that claimed the life of a young female, 21 – year-old Zion Hutcherson of Baton Rouge, LA.
The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Louisiana State Police Detective and Fugitive Task Force, Hammond Police Department, 21st Judicial District Attorney's Office, Ponchatoula Police Department and Texas Law Enforcement for helping to get this dangerous fugitive off the streets and behind bars.
One dead after Roseland Shooting. Multiple people were arrested, several still at large.
UPDATE - HAMMOND, LA – August 19, 2020 - In regard to a shooting that happened during a trail ride in Roseland left 21-year-old Zion Hutcherson of Baton Rouge, dead by a single gunshot wound. The incident occurred on Vernon Town Road.
We do not suspect that Hutcherson was an intended target in this incident, however was subsequently struck by a stray bullet.
Over the course of this investigation, detectives developed several suspects and currently have the following subjects in custody.
30 – year old Brandon Perry of Roseland, LA. was charged with Second Degree Murder, (2) counts Attempted Second Degree Murder, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 5, (3)counts Possession with intent to Distribute Schedule II, (2) counts Possession of Weapons while in possession of CDS, Possession with intent to Distribute Schedule II, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm
29-Year-old Craig Brown 29 from Amite, LA. was charged with, Possession with intent to distribute Schedule V, Possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV, Convicted, Orders of the Governor, Negligent Homicide, and (2) counts Negligent Injuring.
Tommie Diamond, 23 of Kentwood, LA. was charged with Second Degree Murder and (2) counts Attempted Second Degree Murder. Diamond was taken into custody in Ascension Parish.
There are outstanding warrants for 19-year-old Jaylohn Mitchell of Ponchatoula and Raven Warford, 27 of Natalbany, LA.

ROSELAND, LA – August 9, 2020 – Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for information regarding a shooting that occurred last night, Aug. 8th, around 7:30 p.m. on Vernon Town Rd. in Roseland.
Multiple gunmen open fire in a large crowd during a trail ride event. One person was fatally shot and several wounded as a result of the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information regarding this tragic event to please come forward with information. TPSO Detective Matt Dean is the lead investigator.
