Narcotics Arrest

HAMMOND, LA. - MArch 26, 2021 - Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Office Chief Jimmy Travis reports the arrest of one individual and the seizure of a large quantity of suspected heroin and fentanyl.

Chief Travis states the Narcotics Division conducted a search warrant at Independence residence following a lengthy investigation of suspected drug activity at the residence.

Upon execution of the search warrant, Agents located Ternesha SHIELDS “ (DOB: 09/23/1995) at the residence and who was also one of the suspects in the investigation. As agents began a search of the residence they discovered approximately 3 ounces of suspected heroin, approximately one half ounce of suspect fentanyl, 7 unopened packages of Suboxone, and a small quantity of marijuana as well as paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics. Agents also seized $4500.00 in US Currency they believed were the proceeds of illegal drug sales.

Shields was subsequently placed in custody for RS 40:966 possession of marijuana, RS 40:966A1 possession with the intent to distribute CDS I, RS 40:967A1 possession with the intent to distribute CDS II, and RS 40:1023 possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chief Travis advises this is a fluid investigation and anticipates more arrest in the near future.
