National Drug Take Back Day

April 8, 2021
HAMMOND, LA - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) will be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and many other law enforcement agencies nationwide to host “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day”.
On April 24, 2021, from 10am – 2pm, the TPSO will be stationed in the parking lot of Hammond Square Mall, on the west side of Target building.
This event aims to provide a “safe, convenient, and responsible” means of disposing unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications. Unfortunately, most people who misuse prescription drugs get them from family, friends, and acquaintances. You can make a difference by keeping track of the medicine you have, by rethinking where and how you keep your medications in your home, and by safely disposing of any unused medications.
The Drug Enforcement Administration's Take Back Day provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction or overdose deaths.
Please be advised that the following items will not be accepted:
- Liquids Sharps, such as needles and lancets
- Illegal drugs
- Aerosol containers, such as inhalers and epipens
