Serving Tangipahoa

Reserve Unit

The Reserve Unit of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is composed of dedicated volunteers who supplement our full-time deputies.

Reserve Unit

The Tangipahoa Parish Reserve Deputies are volunteers who complete the mandated training at the Reserve Academy. Upon successful completion, they are authorized to carry a weapon and make arrests. Reserve deputies support our full-time deputies and adhere to the same rules and regulations as full-time employees of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Reserve Mounted Division: The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Mounted Division leverages the skills of deputies backed by the assistance of police horses. This division, led by Jill Hutcheson, consists of 22 members who train monthly at the Florida Parishes Arena. Their training includes crowd control, arrest procedures by horseback, and desensitization to gunfire, fireworks, smoke, fire, flashing lights, and sirens. The horses and riders are certified annually to maintain their active status and guarantee they are well-prepared for any situation.
