Tangipahoa Parish Jail

Predominantly, the jail detains parish inmates awaiting their court appearances. The facility is equipped with modern security features including an eight-foot perimeter fence topped with razor wire.

In addition to housing detainees, the prison utilizes trustees who perform janitorial services at various facilities including the parish courthouse and firing range, as well as handle cleaning and laundry duties within the prison. Other trustee crews are assigned to the Tangipahoa Parish School Board and participate in periodic "litter crews" to maintain cleanliness along parish roads and highways.

All individuals entering the premises undergo a thorough search and are prohibited from bringing in personal items such as handbags. Visitors to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail must present a valid government-issued photo driver's license or identification card. Visitation privileges for inmates are contingent upon disciplinary and security considerations and may be suspended or revoked without prior notice. Visitors are expected to adhere to all facility policies and operational procedures during their visit.

As a strict reminder, introduction of Contraband into a penal facility is a felony under Louisiana State Statute RS 14:402, and offenders will be prosecuted accordingly.
