TPSO K9 Division

Our professional K-9 Unit comprises four patrol dogs, three bloodhounds, and one narcotics detection dog. Each K-9 is paired with a deputy and lives with their family, creating a strong bond for efficient teamwork. The K-9 team's efforts save hundreds of man-hours annually, as their heightened sense of smell allows them to perform searches much faster than their human counterparts.

The K-9 Unit's responsibilities are extensive, including criminal apprehension, building and area searches, evidence and narcotics detection, tracking missing persons and fleeing suspects, crowd control, and protecting the lives of their handlers and other officers. Beyond their law enforcement duties, our K-9 Unit actively engages with the community, participating in events, educating youth about drugs and prevention, and working with elderly task force groups.
