UPDATE- TPSO Investigating Shooting in Hammond Area

HAMMOND (October 1, 2025)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is now investigating this case as a homicide following the victim, 18-year-old Lawrence Wilson, unfortunately, succumbing to his injuries.

In addition, the individual believed to be associated with this case in a good Samaritan role has been identified and confirmed as having simply helped Wilson get to the hospital.

At this time, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) still needs the public’s help gathering information about the shooting incident that led to Wilson’s death.

On Monday afternoon, September 29, TPSO received a call about shots being fired between two cars in the 13000 block of Miley Niquiporo Road. Shortly after, a call came in about shots being fired at a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 1064 and Rufus Bankston Road.

Initially, in both cases, no injuries were reported. However, just before 4 p.m. that day, Wilson was brought into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives are actively working several leads in this investigation and we encourage anyone with information about any of these incidents, which are believed to be connected, to contact the Criminal Investigations Office at 985-902-2088.
