“Click it or Ticket” this Summer

HAMMOND (May 18, 2026)- As we ease into summertime, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office will be one of dozens of law enforcement agencies across the country participating in the Click It or Ticket campaign which runs beginning in the middle of May. This effort is coordinated and funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
As millions of Americans trade school bags for travel bags to take summer vacations, often through road trips, it is important to follow life-saving practices when traveling, like wearing a seat belt.
During the campaign, more deputies will be tasked specifically with conducting checkpoints held in conjunction with the campaign. During the checkpoints, deputies will verify that all drivers and passengers in vehicles are following all seat belt and safety seat laws, as well as check for other violations.
Click It or Ticket is a seat belt enforcement campaign focused on improving the national seat belt usage rate. In the last decade, seat belts have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across our country.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker asks Tangipahoa motorists to keep safety a priority always, but especially when traveling on vacation. If you encounter one of these checkpoints, please be patient and cooperative and help us spread awareness about these critical safety issues.
