Multiple Injured in Shooting Incident

May 22, 2026

LORANGER (May 22, 2026)- Three people were injured in a shooting incident that occurred in a mobile home park late Thursday night.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) was called out to the neighborhood on North St. Charles Avenue in the Loranger area just after 10 p.m. for multiple reports of shots fired. However, upon deputies’ arrival at the shooting scene, no victims were found, but evidence of multiple shots fired was located.

At this point in the investigation, deputies have learned that two groups got into a verbal dispute in the neighborhood. Residents emerged from their homes to try to intervene and get the groups to leave. However, that turned into an exchange of gunfire and the circumstances leading up to that are still under active investigation.

Three victims, who received non-life-threatening injuries, were taken to a local hospital by private vehicle before deputies arrived. A 50-year-old woman and a 17-year-old male remain hospitalized in stable condition today while a 33-year-old woman was released with a graze wound. The elder female was a relative of one of the members of the feuding groups; it is currently undetermined whether the other two were part of the feuding groups or were residents.

Interviews and evidence are still being collected to confirm the facts of this case. Anyone with information about this incident and all of the individuals involved can contact our Criminal Investigations Division at 985-902-2088.
