K-9 Gunner Catches Tickfaw Copper Thief

Jun 12, 2026

TICKFAW (June 12, 2026)- A Tickfaw resident has been arrested for stealing $1,000 worth of copper from a business after K-9 Gunner tracked the suspect’s path from the business to his nearby home.

Samuel Knight, 38, has been booked on two counts of Burglary and one count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Property.

Earlier this week, a business located in the 49000 block of Western Acres in Tickfaw reported several pieces of equipment and the copper wiring from remaining equipment missing. When detectives arrived at the business to start the investigation, Deputy David Bailey and K-9 Gunner accompanied them. While the detectives began information gathering, Gunner began tracking around the property. That track led to a residence about a quarter of a mile away off of Highway 442where a pile of stripped wire was found sitting in the front yard of the house.

A search warrant for the home led to more stripped wire being discovered, all of which matched the type missing from the business.

Detectives then identified Knight as the suspect, and once located, he confessed to the burglary. Knight was then placed under arrest in connection with the case.
