Underage Sales Enforcement Nets Citations

AMITE (July 5, 2026)- Thanksto the support of a Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) grant, 7 businessclerks were cited during a series of operations to uncover and address underagetobacco and alcohol sales and use.

 

Over the past few months, Tangipahoa ParishSheriff’s Office (TPSO) deputies from all divisions were assigned an additionalshift focused solely on identifying businesses, their employees, and customersengaged in unlawful sales of alcohol and tobacco in an effort to reduceunderage substance abuse. During the operation, more than 38 retail alcoholicbeverage and tobacco establishments on the southern end of the parish werevisited, where seven individuals were cited for Unlawful sale, purchase, orpossession of tobacco, alternative nicotine products or vapor products.

 

Sheriff Gerald Sticker wants to commend all ofthe employees who follow sales laws on a daily basis, as well as the businessowners who hold their employees to the standards not only set by the law butthe expectations set by our community.

 

The TPSO is grateful for the opportunity toconduct this operation, which was made possible through the Juvenile UnderageDrinking Enforcement (JUDE) grant coordinated and funded by the LHSC inpartnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
