Convicted Felon Arrested for Guns, Drugs
HAMMOND (August 29, 2026)- Following a multi-agency collaboration, a convicted felon has been put back behind bars after being found with multiple weapons and drugs.
Anthony Thomas, 28, has been booked on two counts each of Possession of Weapons while in Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm along with one count each of Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice and Violating Parole.
Earlier this week, the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole (P&P) connected with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) and Hammond Police (HPD) to conduct a compliance check on Thomas. He previously served time for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Illegal Use of Weapons.
Following the compliance check, which resulted in Thomas’ arrest for the parole violation, a subsequent investigation began. Both agencies’ Narcotics Divisions and Street Crimes teams then executed a search warrant at a home off of Airport Road in the Hammond area. The teams found three pistols, three AR-Style pistols, and the ammunition and accessories for them, as well as Marijuana and illegally obtained prescription pills.
A 22-year-old man, who was also at the home at the time of the operation, was also arrested on several drug-related charges.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker wants to commend this proactive, collaborative effort with our partners at P&P and Hammond Police for getting this dangerous individual back behind bars.
