HAMMOND (October 5, 2026)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested three juveniles for trying to rob a Hammond-area discount store over the weekend.

The 16-year-old males were all booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of Attempted Armed Robbery with a Gun and Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile.

Midday Saturday, October 3, the TPSO was called to a store located in the 43000 block of South Airport Road regarding an attempted armed robbery. Employees reported that a group of teens came into the store and were observed passing a gun amongst each other as they walked throughout the store. Before they left, two male juveniles walked up to the register, with one displaying a portion of a gun and demanding money. But the group then ran out of the store.

Thanks to information provided by nearby businesses and witnesses, deputies quickly located the group of teens in the mobile home park just behind the store. There, deputies confirmed the suspects involved and placed them under arrest.

The TPSO wants to thank the community members and area businesses who partnered with our deputies to quickly solve this case.
