Student Arrested for Bringing Gun, Drugs to School

HAMMOND (October 6, 2026)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Hammond teenager for bringing a gun and drugs to school.

The 16-year-old male has been arrested on one count each of Carrying of a Firearm by a Student on School Property, Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile, Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone.

On Tuesday, October 6, TPSO School Resource Officers (SROs) at Hammond High School were made aware of suspicious circumstances involving a student’s vehicle in the parking lot. That student was removed from class to confirm it was his vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle, a gun and pills were located inside. The student was then placed under arrest.
