HAMMOND (October 23, 2026)- As part of his continued mission to increase the quality of life in Tangipahoa Parish by increasing traffic enforcement efforts, Sheriff Gerald Sticker is proud to announce the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has been awarded, once again, a record grant award by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

This $97,700 award is an increased renewal of the previous LHSC grant the agency received, which was the largest in agency history at the time.

The money will be used throughout the year to cover the cost of extra patrols aimed at enforcing seat belt, speeding, distracted driving and DWI laws and to conduct operations aimed at preventing underage drinking.

“We a re grateful that our efforts to meet the mission of this grant program have been recognized for a third year and rewarded with an increased amount to expand that impactful work,” said Sheriff Gerald Sticker, “This effort is about saving lives, period, and we appreciate the assistance from the LHSC in working toward that goal.”
