Man Arrested for Shooting Stepson in Weekend Dispute
PONCHATOULA (September 16, 2025)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Ponchatoula man for shooting and injuring his stepson during an argument at their home over the weekend.
Charles Crockett, 61, has been booked on one count Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
Just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, a call came in reporting a 26-year-old man had been shot twice during an altercation. The caller indicated the shooter was Crockett, the victim’s stepfather, and that he had fled the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition.
Later that night, Crockett walked into the Covington Police Department and admitted to the shooting. He was taken into custody and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
