Arrest Made in Multi-Agency Drug Investigation

PONCHATOULA (September 17, 2025)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Ponchatoula man in connection with running a drug operation across the street from a church.

James Rodgers, Jr., 67, has been booked on one count each of Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Obstruction of Justice and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) within a Drug-Free Zone.

Thanks to a tip from the community, the TPSO Narcotics Division was made aware of suspicious behavior at a home in the 41000 block of S Range Road in Ponchatoula  Following several days of surveillance operations, TPSO identified Rogers as a potential drug trafficking suspect and obtained search warrants for the residence.

On Friday, September 12, TPSO Narcotics detectives were joined by the Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division to conduct that search which turned up Cocaine and a Crack Cocaine/Fentanyl mixture as well as a digital scale and more than $8600 in cash. Rogers, a convicted felon and registered sex offender, was then taken into custody and booked on the above charges.

This case remains active with additional investigative efforts expected.
