Work Release Inmate Sought Following Walk-Off
AMITE (September 27, 2025)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) is searching for a work release inmate who walked away from his assignment at the Florida Parishes Arena this afternoon (Saturday, September 27).
Christopher Delcambre, 51, is described as a white male standing 5’10” and weighing 160 lbs. He is wearing blue pants and a white shirt. Delcambre is behind bars in connection with a drug case as well as a felony theft case out of Hammond. Delcambre has ties to the Abita Springs and Carriere, MS areas.
Around 3:30 p.m., Delcambre was brought to the Florida Parishes Arena in Amite for a work assignment alongside TPSO staff. When the task (moving pallets) was complete, Delcambre was unaccounted for. Delcambre was last seen heading in a northeast direction toward the new baseball fields by the arena.
Delcambre is in a program that allows select Department of Corrections inmates to work jobs outside of the jail.
At this time, deputies are coordinating with area law enforcement partners to actively search for Delcambre. There is no concern for danger to the public at this time. All rodeo events and activities planned for this evening are still scheduled to take place on time. There will be adequate security, as usual, at the Arena.
