“Click it or Ticket” this Thanksgiving

HAMMOND (November 24, 2025)- This Thanksgiving holiday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office will be one of dozens of law enforcement agencies across Louisiana participating in the Click It or Ticket campaign which runs from November 22-29, 2025. This effort is coordinated and funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Traditionally, millions of Americans hit the highway during Thanksgiving week to gather around the dinner table with loved ones. Because of this, it is one of the busiest travel times of the year, and it is important to follow life-saving practices when traveling, like wearing a seat belt.
During the campaign, more deputies will be tasked specifically with conducting checkpoints held in conjunction with the campaign. During the checkpoints, deputies will verify that all drivers and passengers in vehicles are following all seat belt and safety seat laws, as well as check for other violations.
Click It or Ticket is a seat belt enforcement campaign focused on improving the national seat belt usage rate. In the last decade, seat belts have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across our country.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker asks Tangipahoa motorists to keep safety a priority always, but especially this holiday season. If you encounter one of these checkpoints, please be patient and cooperative and help us spread awareness about these critical safety issues.
