Inmate Arrested on New Charges
AMITE (December 15, 2025)- A Tangipahoa Parish Jail inmate has been rebooked on new charges after taking off from a transport vehicle outside of the courthouse this morning.
Donnie Stevenson, 18, is now facing charges of Simple Escape and Resisting an Officer. He had been in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail since March of this year for 1stDegree Rape, Aggravated Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Illegal Possession of Stolen Things.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. as inmates scheduled for court were offloading a transport van in the outside loading dock area behind the closed security gate. Thanks to cooperation from several witnesses and the skills of K-9 Thor, Stevenson was quickly tracked to a nearby neighborhood and taken into custody.
This incident remains under investigation with additional charges possible.
