TPSO Receives Grant for Increased Traffic Enforcement

Dec 23, 2025

HAMMOND (December 23, 2025)- As part of his mission to increase the quality of life in Tangipahoa Parish by increasing traffic enforcement efforts, Sheriff Gerald Sticker is proud to announce the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has been awarded, once again, a $97,000 grant by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. This is a renewal of the largest LHSC grant the agency has received in its history.

The money will be used throughout the year to cover the cost of extra patrols aimed at enforcing seat belt, speeding, distracted driving and DWI laws and to conduct operations aimed at preventing underage drinking.

Within the first quarter of receiving this award, especially during the Click It or Ticket campaign which ran through the week of Thanksgiving, the TPSO engaged with more than 75 vehicles and issued 56 citations for various violations, including for no seat belts. Our Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement (JUDE) team has so far conducted three operations, visiting around 60 retailers, resulting in 15 clerks being cited for violations.

“We are grateful that our efforts to meet the mission of this grant program have been recognized for a second year and rewarded with such a significant grant to continue that impactful work,” said Sheriff Gerald Sticker, “This effort is about saving lives, period, and we appreciate the assistance from the LHSC in working toward that goal.”
