PONCHATOULA(August 6, 2026)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) has arrested a Ponchatoula teenager for threatening school violence on the first day of classes.

Bryanna Kaufman, 17, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on one count of Terrorizing. She has since bonded out of jail.

Late Wednesday afternoon, August 5, a tip came into the Crimestoppers P3 app informing authorities about a videoed threat to commit a shooting at Ponchatoula High School (PHS) on Monday, August 10.

TPSO School Resource Officers (SROs) immediately began an investigation and confirmed the source of the threat was Kaufman, a senior at PHS. Deputies quickly located the female and took her into custody.

“Parents, please, have a talk with your children. Remind them to leave their beefs at home. Stay off social media with all the ignorance because we’re going to err on the side of caution and we will press charges,” said Sheriff Gerald Sticker.
