TANGIPAHOA (November 3, 2026)- The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO), on behalf of the Village of Tangipahoa Police Department (TPD), is investigating a shooting incident that left one victim dead.
A 15-year-old male has been booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on one count each of 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Use of Weapons, Obstruction of Justice and Solicitation of Membership in a Criminal Street Gang.
Jacollis Burton, 22, has been booked on one count each of Principle to 2nd Degree Murder, Obstruction of Justice and Solicitation of Membership in a Criminal Street Gang.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, November 3, a call came in from the 12000 block of Silo Road in the Village of Tangipahoa reporting shots fired. Deputies assisting TPD arrived to locate spent shell casings in the roadway and an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound laying next to a shed. Despite live-saving measures, the 37-year-old man later died. Identification is pending an autopsy with the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.
During the investigation, which TPSO is leading on behalf of TPD, it was learned that Jacollis Burton was involved in a drug deal with the 15-year-old suspect at a home down the street from the victim’s home. There was a dispute during the transaction and Burton ran to the victim’s home. The victim, a relative of Burton’s, ended up exchanging gunfire with the 15-year-old suspect and the victim was shot.
